Advisory for those who want a quieter Chingay

I AM sorry that Mrs Helga Posset ('Chingay outing marred by hard-rock band'; ST, Feb 27) and her family had to leave before the parade started.

A spectrum of pre-parade performances was offered to reflect the wide interests of our audience. As a street parade, Chingay is loud and noisy, and includes the setting off of firecrackers and fireworks.

In future, we will issue advisories on where the noisier sectors will be.

We thank Mrs Posset for her feedback. We hope that she and her family will join us for Chingay next year.
